Spring is a big time of year for electricity plan shopping as many Texans will see their contracts expire. The decision you make will likely impact your budget for months. At Budget Power, we really care about budgets. So here is our four-step guide to finding a great electricity renewal rate.
- Be sure to know your current electricity rate and your kilowatt hour (kWh) usage
You should be able to easily find this information by taking a look at your bill. This is important to have so you can comparison shop. - Go shopping
Now that you know your electricity rate and usage, you can begin to shop. You can start by visiting our Pricing and Plans page to compare our rates to your renewal rate. Or call us at 1-888-699-0747. We enjoy talking with customers. - Beware of “loyalty premiums” In most cases, loyalty is a good thing. When it comes to electricity plan renewal, that is often not the case. Most retail electricity providers will send you renewal plan with a rate that is higher than what they charge new customers. We call this a “loyalty premium.” Instead of rewarding you for being a good customer, you are penalized. You can try to call a company’s customer service line – if you can get through – and try to convince them to give you their best current rate. Budget Power does not have a loyalty premium. We typically offer our customers renewal rates that are lower than rates available to new customers because we value their business and want them to stay with us.
- Check a retail electricity company’s service history You should want a company that offers a great renewal rate backed by great service. When you have a question or concern, you should be able to talk with a service representative or get a response by email. At Budget Power, we put you at the forefront. That means great rates and quality service. Our team has been serving the Texas market with this philosophy for more than 20 years.
When it’s time to renew, we wish you successful shopping. And hope you will give Budget Power a look.
